In recent years bobcats have been spotted in McKinney, but did you know that LIONS have been in McKinney, Texas for over 90 years. The McKinney Lions Club was founded on October 20, 1920 and has been an important force in our community every since. The men and women of our Lions Club enjoy good fellowship each Wednesday and have outstanding programs. Our programs are educational, enjoyable, and have an impact on our members. In addition, the Lions Club participates in many community and service activities.
The McKinney Lions Club lives by the motto of “We Serve.” In recent years we have provided eye exams and glasses for hundreds of needy school children in McKinney enabling them to become better students. Each summer the Lions Club works with the Fire Department to provide box fans for low income families. We also support organizations such as: The Community Lifeline Center, Collin County Committee on Aging, the food bank, and the BB Cope Scholarship. In addition, the Lions Club supports the Texas Lions Camp for children with physical handicaps which is located in Kerrville, Texas. The Club collects thousands of pairs of eyeglasses for recycling and re-distribution each year and has sponsored mobile vision clinics to test adults for vision needs and provide glasses. Our funds are raised through an annual Chili Supper, sponsorship of a film festival and magic show, and participation in Oktoberfest and downtown Christmas activities.
We feel the McKinney Lions Club is an outstanding organization that offers much to its members. We would be delighted to have you visit us! You do not need to have a Lion bring you—just come and Lunch will be on us. We meet each Wednesday at noon at the Eldorado Country Club in McKinney and hope that you will consider becoming a part of a great organization that does much good in our community—the McKinney Lions Club.
